FRESH START WITH GOD
Did you know that you were created to have a personal relationship
with God? Most people today are searching for true meaning and purpose
in life. It seems everywhere we turn there is no peace. You may be
searching for that life and peace through different avenues such as
relationships, doing good deeds, materialism, sex, drugs, or just
having fun. At the end of the day, when you place your head on your
pillow, is your heart full of peace? Does your life have a sense of
real purpose?
If you do not have a personal relationship with God, then the answer
is no-- you do not have life or peace. God is the only source of
life and peace. It is God’s desire that you have life and
peace. So how do you get it?
First, you must understand that you were created to honor, serve,
and fellowship with God. The Bible says in Revelation 4:11, “You,
are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor, and power: for You
have created all things, and for Your pleasure they are and were
created.” If this is our purpose, then what happened that
destroyed our relationship with Him? It was sin.
Second, you must realize that you are a sinner. Man chose to sin
against God rather than serve Him. The Bible tells us in Romans
3:23, “For all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory
of God.” What is sin? Sin is doing anything that displeases
God. We sin by doing what God has commanded us not to do or by not
doing what God has told us to do. Our sin separates us from God.
In Isaiah 59:2 we are told, “your sins have separated you
from your God and your sins have hidden His face from you so that
He will not hear you.” Because of sin, man deserves to die.
Romans 3:23 tells us that, “the wages (what we have earned)
of sin is death.” When we choose to disobey God, the result
is death, not just physical death, but also spiritual death. Spiritual
death is eternal separation from God. That is what we deserve because
of our sin. This is very bad news! Sin’s payment is death.
Man is separated from God because of his sin. Then how can we ever
eliminate the barrier of sin and have a relationship with Jesus
Christ?
Third, you must acknowledge that only Jesus Christ can save you.
There is nothing that you can do to eliminate the sin barrier on
your own. Not good works, not going to church, not being baptized,
not being religious, nothing you can do can eliminate the sin barrier.
Jesus said, “I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life, NO man
comes to God except through Me (John 14:6).” Ephesians 2:8,9
says, “You are saved by grace through faith, not by your own
power: it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man could boast.”
Jesus Christ, God’s sinless Son, was sent to earth to become
man so that he could pay your penalty for your sin. Jesus was born
of virgin Mary. He healed the sick, calmed the storms and never
sinned, yet at the end of His life he was beaten and crucified on
a cross. Why did Jesus die on the cross? It was because of His love
for you. Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins. "God
demonstrated His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners,
Christ Died for us”, Romans 5:8. “For God so loved the
world, that He gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes
in Him will not perish but will have everlasting life”, John
3:16. Jesus eliminated the sin barrier by dying on the cross. The
cross is the only bridge to God. How do you cross this bridge?
Fourth, you must accept Jesus’ payment for your sin and
give your life to Him. To have a personal relationship with God,
you must confess Jesus as your Lord, repent of your sins, and put
your trust in Jesus alone as the only hope of eternal life. Romans
10:13 says, “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall
be saved.” “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you
will be saved”. Acts 16:31. “If you confess with your
mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised
Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Although the solution is simple, most people miss it. Just to be
sure that you understand let’s review:
Salvation is needed. You must realize that you are a sinner and
you cannot save yourself.
Salvation has been provided. God loved you so much that He gave
Jesus to die on the cross to pay for your sins.
Salvation can be accepted. Salvation cost nothing but your life.
To be saved and have a personal relationship with God and the assurance
of heaven you must: repent of your sin and confess Jesus as the
Lord (master, ruler) of your life.
Wouldn’t you like to have peace and real life? Wouldn’t
you like to know God personally and be assured of Heaven when you
die? We beg you to right now to pray and confess your sins to God,
give Him your life, confess Jesus as your Lord. He will come into
your life and fill that void that you have been trying to fill.
You will never regret this decision.
